In anticipation of the UAE Union Day celebrations, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has implemented a temporary ban on specific heavy vehicles entering Abu Dhabi. From December 1, 2023, to December 4, 2023, trucks and buses used for worker transportation will be restricted from accessing Abu Dhabi Island.
Restriction Details
The ban encompasses crucial entrances, including Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Mussafah Bridge, and Al Maqta Bridge. Starting at 12 pm on December 1 and concluding at 1 am on December 4, road users are advised to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations during this period.
Exemptions for Essential Services
Public sanitation companies and logistic support services are exempted from this temporary ban. This strategic exemption ensures that vital services continue without interruption, underscoring the importance of these sectors.

Coinciding with the celebration of UAE Union Day, both government and private sector employees are granted an extended weekend from December 2 to December 4. Normal work operations are set to resume on December 5, 2023, Tuesday. Additionally, public sector employees will work remotely on Friday, December 1.
