As Hajj concludes, UAE residents are presented with an opportunity to embark on their Umrah pilgrimage at significantly reduced costs. Umrah packages are now approximately 25% cheaper than during cooler months, making this season ideal for those seeking an economical yet spiritually fulfilling journey.
Lower Demand, Lower Prices
This summer, the intense heat has dampened the demand for Umrah, resulting in substantial price cuts. Qaiser Mahmood from ASAA Tourism in Abu Hail attributes this drop in prices to decreased summer pilgrim numbers. “The reduced demand for Umrah during the hotter months has led to a 25% decrease in package prices,” Mahmood noted.

Budget-Friendly Packages
Currently, Umrah packages are available at significantly reduced rates. Mahmood reported that a four-day Umrah package by air starts at Dh2,500, while bus packages begin at Dh1,100. These prices are considerably lower compared to peak rates during cooler months, which can soar to Dh3,200 by air and Dh1,600 by bus.
However, some agencies continue to offer higher-priced packages with enhanced services, such as improved food and accommodations closer to the holy sites.
Enhanced Services for Pilgrims
Despite the reduced rates, some travel agencies prioritize premium services. “Hotels near the holy sites are usually fully booked year-round. However, we reserve accommodations to ensure easy access for our clients,” Mahmood assured. This commitment aims to provide pilgrims with convenience and comfort throughout their spiritual journey.
Umrah Visas and Travel
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has started issuing visas for Umrah, requiring pilgrims to pay an extra Dh200 for a single-entry visa. The new Umrah season begins in the month of Muharram 1145 AH (July 19), and interested individuals can apply for electronic visas through the Nusuk application.
For UAE residents, the process has become more accessible, as they can now travel to any airport in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. Previously, access was restricted to only four airports before the Hajj season.
Visiting Madinah
While visiting Madinah is not a required part of Hajj or Umrah, many pilgrims choose to spend time in this revered city either before or after their pilgrimage. The city’s special significance, including the Prophet’s mosque and sacred tomb, attracts countless pilgrims yearly.
The summer months offer UAE residents a unique opportunity to perform Umrah at a fraction of the usual cost. With prices cut by nearly 25%, those willing to endure the heat can undertake this spiritual journey without financial strain.
For others, postponing their trip until September balances affordability and comfort. Regardless of the timing, the dedication of pilgrims and the efforts of travel agencies ensure a meaningful and fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
