Key UAE Public Holidays for 2025
The resolution grants a one-day holiday on January 1, 2025, for New Year’s Day. We will also observe a 3-day break from Shawwal 1 to 3, aligning with Eid Al-Fitr, contingent on the lunar sighting. Additionally, if Ramadan extends to 30 days, the 30th day will also be a holiday, enhancing the Eid celebrations.
Other significant holidays include Arafat Day on Dhu Al Hijjah 9, followed by Eid Al-Adha from Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12. Muharram 1 will mark the Islamic New Year, while Rabi Al Awwal 12 will commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We will celebrate the 54th UAE National Day with a two-day holiday on December 2 and 3.
Flexibility and Local Provisions
The Cabinet can move holidays to the beginning or end of the week, allowing for some flexibility, except for Eid holidays, which cannot be rescheduled if they coincide with weekends or other public holidays. Local governments have the discretion to declare additional holidays for their departments and institutions based on special occasions or unique requirements.
Implementation and Revocation
This resolution supersedes the previous Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2019 and any conflicting provisions. The new regulations aim to streamline the public holiday schedule, ensuring clarity and consistency across sectors.
