UAE Rolls Out New Traffic Rules Ahead of National Day Festivities

Stay Safe and Celebrate Responsibly During the UAE’s 53rd National Day

With the UAE’s 53rd National Day on the horizon, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has introduced updated traffic and safety guidelines to ensure the celebrations remain joyous and secure for everyone. These regulations aim to prevent disruptions, encourage responsible behavior, and uphold the celebratory spirit of this cherished occasion.

Key Traffic Rules for Motorists

The new guidelines emphasize safety, particularly for drivers, to reduce road mishaps and ensure smooth traffic flow during the festivities.

  • Decoration Rules: While decorating vehicles is permitted, all embellishments must comply with safety standards. License plates must remain visible, and decorations should not obstruct the driver’s view.
  • No Overloading: Drivers must not allow passengers to sit on windows, roofs, or any unsafe positions inside vehicles.
  • Sound Limits: Keep music and celebratory chants to reasonable levels, ensuring they are appropriate for the occasion.

Behavior Guidelines During Celebrations

The MOI urges residents to celebrate responsibly, highlighting the importance of safety and mutual respect:

  • Ban on Stunt Driving: Reckless driving or any act that disrupts traffic flow is strictly prohibited.
  • Respect for the National Flag: Participants can display the UAE flag but must refrain from showcasing flags of other countries or non-related accessories.
  • Prohibited Sprays: The use of foam or string sprays, which could disturb or harm others, is not allowed.

Penalties for Violations

Authorities will impose hefty fines and impound vehicles of violators to deter unsafe practices. Shops selling unapproved decorations may also incur penalties, reinforcing the MOI’s commitment to upholding law and order during National Day.

Celebrate Safely and Respectfully

Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasized these rules to ensure public safety and protect the celebratory atmosphere. He encouraged residents to embrace the joyous spirit of National Day while abiding by these regulations.

Why These National Day Guidelines Matter

National Day is a time of pride and unity, symbolizing the UAE’s rich heritage and forward-thinking vision. Adhering to the MOI’s rules allows everyone to enjoy the celebrations safely, fostering a sense of shared joy across the nation.
