UAE flight suspensions widen as regional conflict disrupts airspace

Flight suspensions extended until June 30 to Iran, Iraq, Armenia, Georgia, and other affected routes

As tensions escalate between Iran and Israel, airlines across the UAE have extended or rescheduled flight operations to several destinations in the region. Airlines are urging passengers traveling between the UAE and select countries to check their flight status and prepare for itinerary changes due to multiple airspace closures now in effect.

Air Arabia, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and flydubai have all issued updates confirming changes to their regional flight schedules, citing safety concerns and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.

Flights to Iran, Iraq, and beyond suspended until June 30

According to official airline updates, routes to and from countries such as Iran, Iraq, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and Azerbaijan are among those suspended until Sunday, June 30. This includes both direct and transit services operating out of Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport, and Sharjah International Airport.

Some flights to Jordan and Lebanon have also been temporarily impacted, though resumption is expected earlier depending on the evolving situation. Carriers are closely monitoring developments and will issue further updates as needed.

Which airlines are affected by the changes?

Air Arabia

Sharjah-based Air Arabia has halted operations to six countries: Iran, Iraq, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and Azerbaijan. Flights remain suspended through the end of June. The airline is also offering assistance with refunds and rebooking options.

Etihad Airways

Etihad has confirmed the suspension of services to Tel Aviv and Amman, with temporary adjustments to Beirut routes. Some flights will be rescheduled depending on demand and airspace accessibility.

Emirates

Flights from Dubai to Tehran, Baghdad, Basra, Amman, and Beirut have been impacted. The airline has reassured passengers that they are eligible for free rebooking or full refunds if their flights are affected.

flydubai

The Dubai-based budget airline has halted flights to several destinations including Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Israel until the end of June. Travellers are being contacted directly to manage itinerary changes.

What passengers need to know right now

Passengers scheduled to travel to or transit through any of the affected countries in the coming days should take immediate steps to confirm their booking status. Here’s what you can do:

  • Check airline apps or booking portals for live updates
  • Avoid cancelling on your own—wait for official confirmation from the airline
  • Review refund and rebooking policies to explore your options
  • Arrive early at the airport to accommodate possible delays at check-in and security
  • Stay informed through airline communication channels and airport authorities

Airports remain operational with support in place

Despite airspace disruptions across the region, all major UAE airports continue to operate normally.Emergency response teams are supporting travelers facing itinerary challenges, while airline staff have reinforced counters and help desks to guide passengers through changes, rebookings, and transit support.

The UAE’s aviation sector is known for its efficiency and resilience, and authorities have reassured travellers that proactive safety measures are in place across the board.

Outlook: What to expect next

With the regional airspace situation still unfolding, travellers are advised to stay alert for real-time updates. Flight schedules may shift at short notice depending on the security environment and international aviation directives. Passengers flying beyond June 30 should continue to monitor communications from their airlines.

Airlines will gradually resume services as soon as conditions stabilize and air corridors reopen safely.
