UAE Activates Emergency Airport Response Plan as Flights Disrupted

In response to ongoing regional tensions that have led to the closure of surrounding airspace, the UAE has enacted a comprehensive emergency airport response plan. The initiative ensures smooth travel operations and enhanced passenger support across the country’s key airports, including Dubai International (DXB), Dubai World Central (DWC), Zayed International in Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah International Airport.

The ICP swiftly approved the plan to maintain service quality and manage flight disruptions.

What UAE Travellers Need to Know Now

Enhanced Airport Operations

The ICP, working closely with airport authorities and airlines, has streamlined procedures at arrival and departure terminals to minimise delays. Dedicated teams are on-site at affected airports to guide passengers, facilitate immigration procedures, and support those impacted by the cancellations.

Rescheduling and Passenger Guidance

Travellers whose journeys were disrupted have been offered rebooking assistance. Airlines operating within the UAE are working in coordination with government authorities to adjust flight schedules in line with changing airspace permissions.

In addition, temporary accommodation and transportation have been arranged for those who are stranded, ensuring their needs are met with care and professionalism.

Travel Disruptions Across the Region

Flight suspensions to and from destinations in Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Israel have affected several outbound and inbound routes. Airlines are adapting their flight paths to avoid restricted airspaces, which may result in longer travel durations or short-notice cancellations.

Despite challenges, the UAE’s proactive approach has ensured core services continue and reduced airport congestion risks.

Special Relief Measures for Iranians in UAE

In a humanitarian gesture, the UAE has also announced that Iranian citizens currently residing in the country will be exempt from paying visa overstay fines. This waiver offers relief to residents and visitors stranded by flight suspensions and closed airspace.

Authorities Urge Patience and Vigilance

Travellers should check with airlines, allow extra time, and follow airport guidance.

Authorities praised the public’s patience, reaffirming that traveller safety is the top priority. The ICP confirmed that emergency measures will remain active as needed.

Dubai Airports Remain Operational and Secure

Despite the regional turbulence, airports in the UAE remain operational, thanks to fast-moving contingency plans and unified coordination between aviation and government entities. With clear guidelines and support, the UAE remains a reliable hub for travellers under pressure.
