Ras Al Khaimah to Launch Air Taxi Service by 2027

Ras Al Khaimah to introduce electric air taxi service, connecting Dubai in 15 minutes by 2027.

Ras Al Khaimah is set to become the first emirate in the UAE to introduce an air taxi service. A strategic partnership has been formed with Joby Aviation, a US-based company specialising in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and Skyports Infrastructure, a UK-based developer of vertiport networks. This collaboration aims to establish a passenger air taxi service in Ras Al Khaimah by 2027.

Connecting Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah

The primary route of this service will connect Ras Al Khaimah with Dubai, significantly reducing travel time from over an hour to just 15 minutes. The development is expected to enhance connectivity between the two emirates, facilitating easier access to Ras Al Khaimah’s attractions and business hubs. (This is the most direct change, keeping the ‘is expected’ structure).

Sustainable and Efficient Travel

The air taxi service will utilise Joby Aviation’s all-electric eVTOL aircraft, designed for quiet and efficient operations. Skyports will be responsible for developing the necessary vertiport infrastructure to support these operations. This initiative aligns with Ras Al Khaimah’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2030, focusing on innovation and sustainability in transportation.

Boosting Tourism and Business

The introduction of the air taxi service is anticipated to boost tourism and business activities in Ras Al Khaimah. With quicker access to key destinations, visitors and professionals can explore the emirate’s offerings more conveniently, potentially leading to increased economic activity and investment.

Looking ahead, Ras Al Khaimah plans to expand its air taxi network, with potential routes connecting to major resorts and attractions within the emirate. This expansion aims to provide residents and visitors with more flexible and efficient travel options, further integrating Ras Al Khaimah into the UAE’s broader transportation network.
