The UAE has announced three days of mourning following the demise of H.H. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative, on Wednesday Night. Late H.H. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the brother of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Late H.H. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Passed Away On Wednesday Night
The Presidential Court issued an obituary, “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful… With hearts faithful to God’s decree and destiny, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourns his late brother, H.H. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, who passed away today.”
Late Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was a football fan, and his vision played a huge role in the successful hosting of the 2003 FIFA Youth World Cup held in the UAE. He was the president of Al Wahda FC from 1990 to 2014 and headed UAE Football Association from 2001 to 2002.
The Presidential Court announced the official mourning period and stated that flags will be flown at half-mast for three days, from Thursday, July 27, until Saturday, July 29. WAM reported that condolences will be received today at Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. On Friday and Saturday, condolences will be received in two sessions: in the morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, and in the evening from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
