The horror-comedy universe of Maddock just pulled a jump-scare comeback and this time, it’s bigger, bloodier, and starrier! After the eerie laughter of Munjya, the stage is now set for Thama. Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are front and centre and their first looks are anything but ordinary.
Meet the cast of thama
Ayushmann Khurrana has ditched his usual charming-boy-next-door vibe to play Alok, Maddock calls him “Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed.” Translation: if humanity is on fire, Ayushmann’s the extinguisher. With that intense stare and a shadowy aura, this is not your friendly neighborhood Vicky Donor anymore.
Rashmika Mandanna’s look is equal parts magical and menacing. She’s introduced as Tadaka, the “Roshni ki ek hi paheli kiran.” Basically, she’s the puzzle everyone wants to solve, but in the most spine-chilling way possible. With that haunting vibe, Rashmika’s ready to make your Diwali glow, with jump scares.
Comedy king Paresh Rawal joins the spooky squad as Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal, a man who literally digs tragedy out of comedy.
But the cherry on this horror sundae is Nawazuddin Siddiqui, stepping in as Yakshaashan, aka “Andhere ka Badshah.” Just the name alone could keep you awake at night.
A Bloody Love Story?
Thama isn’t just horror, it’s also a love story dipped in blood. Set in present-day Delhi with flashbacks to the ancient city of Vijayanagar, Ayushmann plays a historian who falls into a tale of passion, pain, and plenty of paranormal punches. Think romance, but make it haunted.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Thama drops in Diwali 2025, perfect time to scream between firecrackers. But it won’t be a smooth ride; the film will lock horns with Anurag Basu’s yet-untitled project starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Horror-comedy vs. masala entertainer – who’s winning the box office dhamaka?
