3 Decades of Grace: Sushmita Sen Reflects on Miss Universe Win and Adopting Renee at the age of 18

Talk about a queen ruling our hearts! Sushmita Sen, the epitome of elegance, was crowned Miss Universe exactly 30 years ago, in 1994. This former beauty queen, now a celebrated actress, took to social media to mark this iconic milestone in her life. And if that wasn’t enough, she shared a heartwarming throwback with her daughter Renee, reminiscing about adopting her at just 18. Till date she is a single mother and inspires many to break stereotype in an Indian society.

Sushmita Sen’s Double Celebration: Miss Universe and Motherhood

Sushmita Sen turned to Instagram to share a precious memory with baby Renee. She wrote, “This little girl, who I met in an orphanage, taught an 18 yr old me, life’s most innocent yet profound lessons, ones that I live by to this day.” She continued writing, “This captured moment is 30 yrs old today as is India’s first ever Victory at Miss Universe!!! What a journey it’s been & continues to be….Thank you, India for always being my greatest identity & strength!!”

Renee Sen also took to social media, sharing a stunning black-and-white picture of her mom wearing the Miss Universe sash. She wrote, “Thirty years ago, today, this marvellous young woman, at the tender age of 18, that I am so grateful is my mother created history as India’s first Miss Universe.” She continued, You continue to live your life with utmost grace, compassion and love that I am yet to see in another human being… We are so proud of all that you have achieved and will continue to achieve Maa! You are God’s best blessing!!! Dugga Dugga! You are the epitome of Shakti… The Universe is all yours I love you so much”
