This all started when on June 15, 2001, when box office was taken by storm because of the movie ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ and it became the highest-grossing film. Directed by Anil Sharma, the movie stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles.
For over two decades, this magnum opus has ascended to the esteemed status of a cult phenomenon. Now, the forthcoming chapter known as ‘Gadar 2’ is now set to unveil its splendour on August 11 after 22 long years. To ignite the fervour and reignite the flames of nostalgia, the first chapter of this illustrious saga shall rekindle its magic and be release in Indian theatres on June 9, 2023.
‘Gadar’, set in the aftermath of India’s partition, captured the beautiful love tale between Tara Singh, an Indian Sikh, and Sakeena, a Muslim girl. The first film saw Tara crossing borders to reunite with his wife.
About the sequel ‘Gadar 2’
‘Gadar 2’ will bring back the story of Tara and Sakina that takes place during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Sunny Deol plays the main role, alongside Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma. This sequel will have a 20 year leap! Similar to the first movie, the sequel also has Sunny Deol travelling to Pakistan, but this time it’s for his son, Utkarsh. However, we’ll have to wait for the teaser to learn more about it.
