She’s had her share of struggles, and she’s spilling the tea on just how rough it was during her debut days.

Turns out, being the daughter of a famous actor doesn’t come with a manual on surviving a Bollywood set! Shraddha Kapoor made her first splash in B-town with Teen Patti. But as she tells Cosmopolitan, the experience was more of a sink-or-swim situation than the red-carpet welcome you’d imagine. “I remember on the second or third day, I had a breakdown and told my mom I didn’t want to go back. I didn’t understand this world since I had never AD’ed on a film set and was just 20 or 21,” she spilled. And can you blame her? At just 20, fresh out of her comfort zone, and with zero experience as an assistant director, she found herself thrown into the deep end of showbiz.
The Reality Check No One Saw Coming
She’s got a surname known far and wide, but Shraddha quickly learned that being a “somebody” didn’t mean much unless you could back it up. “People were not always very nice cause if you were a ‘somebody’, she confessed. “You would be suddenly spoken to in a different way, and if you were a nobody, you would be treated like that. I could see all this and felt sad about it. My first film felt far more challenging than my second, where I was more confident and realised that if someone doesn’t know something and is a little lost, you have to be kind to them,” she reveals.The unspoken hierarchy on set hit her hard, leaving her feeling more lost than a plot twist in a Bollywood thriller.
But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right? Fast forward to her second movie, and Shraddha was already growing into her skin. She realized that not everyone shows up to set knowing the ropes, and a little kindness can go a long way.
From Teen Patti to Total Diva
Let’s keep it real – Teen Patti wasn’t exactly the ticket to stardom Shraddha Kapoor hoped for. The 2010 film, despite featuring legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley, didn’t exactly set the box office on fire. But don’t let that fool you into thinking she was down for the count. Along came Aashiqui 2, and Shraddha was suddenly on everyone’s radar, singing (literally!) her way into the hearts of millions.
Now Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 crossed the ?500 crore mark and becoming one of the biggest blockbusters. She laughts it off now as its the sweetest revenge against anyone who ever doubted her. So, if you’re still thinking Shraddha’s success was handed to her on a silver platter, think again. She didn’t just beat the nepotism game, she absolutely aced it.
