Sheikh Mohammed Launches AED 1 Billion Education Fund Ahead of Ramadan to Support Global Disadvantaged Families

Elevating Hope and Empowering Communities through Education and Generosity

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has initiated a remarkable philanthropic effort ahead of Ramadan, launching a AED 1 billion education fund aimed at supporting disadvantaged families globally. The initiative, named the Mothers’ Endowment campaign, is orchestrated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), as reported by the state news agency Wam.

The core objective of the campaign is to provide educational support to millions of individuals worldwide hailing from underprivileged backgrounds. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the profound significance of knowledge, deeming it as the beacon of hope and a pathway to a better life, capable of fostering capable individuals and propelling nations forward.

In his statement, Sheikh Mohammed underscored the UAE’s commitment to extending educational opportunities globally, fostering hope, and enhancing lives worldwide. He urged people, regardless of age or gender, to partake in this noble cause, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan, by contributing to the endowment in honor of their mothers.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of mothers, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted their significance as synonymous with heaven and emphasized the campaign’s mission to bring joy to them and earn divine favor. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s culture of generosity and solidarity, which the campaign exemplifies.

With Ramadan commencing on March 10 or 11 this year, the proceeds from the Mothers’ Endowment campaign will be directed towards supporting the educational aspirations of millions worldwide, as stated by Mohammad Al Gergawi, the secretary-general of MBRGI. Al Gergawi affirmed that the allocations would be executed in collaboration with humanitarian organizations, targeting individuals in underprivileged communities seeking education and vocational training to enhance their stability and well-being.

This initiative follows the success of previous Ramadan campaigns, such as the One Million Meals in 2020 and 2021, and the One Billion Meals in 2022 and 2023. Notably, the One Billion Meals campaign last year garnered AED 750 million in just 20 days, owing to the overwhelming support from individuals, institutions, and businesses, reaffirming the spirit of giving deeply embedded in the UAE community.
