Sheikh Hamdan launches major global sports summit in Dubai

Dubai is set to host a milestone event in the world of sports. Directed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the World Sports Summit Dubai 2025 will take place from 29 to 30 December at Madinat Jumeirah.

The summit will unite sports leaders for two days of talks on innovation, talent, and the industry’s future.

Global sports leaders to gather in Dubai

The World Sports Summit will feature an elite lineup of athletes, coaches, decision-makers, and thought leaders. The event will serve as a high-level platform for collaboration on key topics such as:

  • Enhancing the performance and competitiveness of national teams and clubs
  • Integrating sports into educational systems and community development
  • Embracing sports technology, data, and innovation
  • Navigating the economic and legislative challenges within the global sports arena

Organised by the Dubai Sports Council, the summit will present keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops aimed at strengthening Dubai’s role in the global sports economy.

Shaping the future of sports through collaboration

According to Sheikh Hamdan, the summit is designed to address existing challenges in the sports industry while leveraging untapped opportunities. He emphasised that sports continue to be a unifying force that inspires communities, drives talent, and supports economic growth.

The summit will cover both team-based and individual sports, with a specific focus on building local and international frameworks that support athlete development across all age groups.

This initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader ambition of becoming a global capital for innovation in multiple sectors—including sports, education, and smart cities.

Empowering youth and building future-ready infrastructure

One of the key themes of the summit will be the role of sports academies and educational institutions in developing youth talent. By spotlighting best practices and success stories, the summit will offer valuable insights into how countries can strengthen their grassroots and elite training systems.

The event will explore how public and private sectors can build inclusive, sustainable, high-performance sports infrastructure.

Hosting the World Sports Summit further reinforces Dubai’s growing reputation as a regional and international hub for high-impact events. Over the years, the city has built a strong portfolio in hosting major sports tournaments, conferences, and exhibitions—drawing in top talent and global attention.

Dubai’s summit strengthens its global sports standing while advancing the UAE’s goals in innovation, inclusion, and global cooperation.

What to expect at the summit

Visitors can expect an immersive two-day programme that includes:

  • Strategic meetings between international sports bodies and local institutions
  • High-profile panels led by Olympic athletes, global sports officials, and tech pioneers
  • Networking opportunities for clubs, federations, and investors
  • Deep-dives into topics like sports finance, fan engagement, youth development, and digital transformation

Madinat Jumeirah hosts the summit—a venue that mirrors Dubai’s blend of tradition and future-facing vision for global sports.
