Sharjah is set to redefine footballing experiences with its latest project: two brand-new stadiums perched atop mountains. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, announced the groundbreaking initiative to enhance playing conditions and create a more enjoyable atmosphere for players and fans alike.
Cooler Climates, Better Matches
The stadiums, earmarked for Kalba Club and Khor Fakkan Club, will be positioned at impressive heights: 850 feet above sea level for Kalba and 900 feet for Khor Fakkan. This elevation promises a significant temperature drop of around 10 degrees compared to ground level, ensuring a cooler and more comfortable environment for football matches.
Nature’s Benefits
By utilizing the natural landscape, Sharjah aims to overcome the challenges posed by high temperatures and humidity, prevalent in the region. The mountain-top stadiums offer a solution to create a ‘humidity-free atmosphere,‘ enhancing the overall footballing experience.
