Sharjah Municipality Waives Parking Fines in Storm-Hit Areas Amid Record Rains

parking fees in storm-affected regions will be temporarily waived until normalcy returns

The municipality of Sharjah has announced that it will be temporarily waiving parking fines in areas affected by the storm until normalcy resumes. This move comes as a relief to many inhabitants who may have faced difficulties during the heavy downpour and subsequent disruptions.

Extraordinary Weather Conditions

On April 16, UAE experienced its highest amount of rainfall in 75 years causing massive disarrays caused by prolonged low pressure systems and unstable weather patterns. The aftermath of this tempest necessitated prompt actions from authorities aimed at relieving affected societies.

Parking Fine Exemptions

In addition to canceling penalties for traffic violations recorded during the storm, Sharjah City Municipality has also waived parking fees. Consequently, people will not receive any fine dues to such offences like non-payment of parking fee, taking more than one space or parking in a reserved area within these locations that were most hit by floods and heavy rains.

Sharjah’s Support to the Community

The decision is meant to ease financial strain on residents and tourists who might have encountered challenges during their stay in these places when there was a storm. By giving this reprieve on payment for wrongfully parked vehicles, authorities show solidarity with its citizens.
