Sharjah, a cultural beacon in the United Arab Emirates, is gearing up to make its mark at the 20th Thessaloniki International Book Fair (TIBF) in Greece. This marks the first time an Arab entity has been honoured as the Guest of Honour at the prestigious event, highlighting Sharjah’s commitment to fostering global cultural connections.
Led by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi
Under the leadership of Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), a delegation representing over 20 cultural, educational, and heritage institutions from Sharjah will participate in the fair. Their objective is to strengthen collaboration and partnerships between Emirati organizations and their Greek counterparts, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the city and the wider Arab world.

Diverse Cultural Offerings
The Guest of Honour (GoH) programme, introduced by Ahmed Al Ameri, CEO of the SBA, promises diverse activities. These include panel discussions, workshops, and heritage shows. A notable highlight of the programme is the presentation of 10 books translated into Greek, covering various literary genres such as poetry, prose, arts, and studies. This initiative aims to give Greek audiences a glimpse into Emirati literature and culture.
