Shah Rukh Khan to be Honored with Pardo alla Carriera at Locarno Film Festival 2024

The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, is about to add another feather to his already glittering cap! The man who redefined romance on screen and showed us the true meaning of stardom is set to receive the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival.

Popularly known as ‘King Khan,’ Shah Rukh will be gracing the Piazza Grande with his presence on the evening of August 10. The award, Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism, celebrates his incredible journey in Indian cinema, which spans over 100 films across a dazzling array of genres.

On August 11, fans will get a chance to engage with SRK himself at the Forum @Spazio Cinema. Imagine sitting in a conversation with the Badshah of Bollywood – it’s going to be epic!

SRK has charmed audiences worldwide with films like ‘Baazigar’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, and ‘Darr’. He’s not just an actor, he’s an emotion. His 2023 hat-trick with ‘Pathaan’, ‘Jawan’, and ‘Dunki’ broke box office records, with ‘Jawan’ becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film ever.

With over 100 feature films and accolades that would make anyone green with envy, SRK has bagged 14 Filmfare Awards, the Padma Shri, and prestigious French honors like the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Légion d’honneur. He received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007 and the Légion d’honneur in 2014. The Indian government honored him with the Padma Shri in 2005.

As part of the Tribute Program, Shah Rukh Khan will receive the award on August 10, and a key film from his career, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’, will be screened.

Following the Footsteps of Giants

Previous recipients of the Pardo alla Carriera include icons like Francesco Rosi, Bruno Ganz, Claudia Cardinale, and Johnnie To. In 2023, the honor was bestowed upon Costa-Gavras and Tsai Ming-liang, adding more prestige to this illustrious list.
