Even Bollywood’s King Khan isn’t immune to the occasional bad day, and yes, even he cries sometimes! Shah Rukh Khan, the man who’s ruled millions of hearts and delivered back-to-back blockbusters in 2023, knows all about facing setbacks. At the Global Freight Summit in Dubai, the star opened up about how he deals with failures, and let’s just say, the man knows how to turn tears into triumph.
Shah Rukh Khan on Bouncing Back after failures
Talking about flops and floundering moments, SRK dropped some wisdom that deserves its billboard. “When you fail, you should not believe that your product or service or job went wrong. Maybe you just misunderstood the ecosystem you were working in,” he said. According to the superstar, failure is about misjudging the audience’s emotions. If he can’t spark the right reaction, he knows it’s time to rethink, not retreat. Lesson learned? You don’t take failure to heart, you take notes.
Shah Rukh’s Secret Therapy Spot
Who would’ve thought that the King of Bollywood’s go-to place for a meltdown is his bathroom? “I cry a lot in my bathroom,” he confessed, proving he’s just as human as the rest of us. But here’s the kicker: he doesn’t let the despair linger. “I do not show it to anyone. You have to believe that the world is not against you. Your film did not go wrong because of you or because the world is conspiring against you. You have to believe that you made it badly. Then you have to move on. There are moments of despair, but there are moments where you say ‘Shut up, now get up and get on with it,” he shared.
In true SRK style, the actor turned philosophical with a dash of humor. Comparing himself to an ant (a very handsome one, obviously), he shared that life’s like the wind—it doesn’t blow against you; it just does its thing. ““The world is not against you. Life moves on. I think if you can imagine yourself as an ant; me a very good-looking ant (smiles) but nevertheless an ant! Sometimes the wind takes you away… the wind is not working against you. It is just doing what it does. Life does what it does. You can’t start blaming life for the failure,” he said, adding that the secret is to keep hustling, no matter what direction the wind blows.
What’s Next for the Badshah?
After stealing the show in Dunki (2023), SRK is gearing up for Sujoy Ghosh’s King, where he’ll share screen space with none other than his daughter, Suhana Khan. A family affair with Bollywood’s royalty? We’re already sold.
