Saudi Arabia Debuts First-Ever Island Golf Course

Saudi Arabia's First Island Golf Course Sets New Standard in Sustainable Luxury

Saudi Arabia has introduced Shura Links, its inaugural 18-hole island golf course, situated on Shura Island in the Red Sea. This development marks a significant step in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative, aiming to diversify its economy and establish itself as a global tourism and sports destination.

A Unique Coastal Golf Experience

Designed by renowned architect Brian Curley, Shura Links offers a par-72, 7,400-yard course that seamlessly integrates with the island’s natural landscape. The course meanders through native mangroves, sweeping dunes, and stretches along the Red Sea coastline, providing golfers with a distinctive links-style experience.

Commitment to Sustainability

In line with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainable development, Shura Links has been designed with minimal environmental impact. The course features water-efficient irrigation systems, utilizes recycled wastewater, and incorporates native vegetation to reduce water usage and enhance biodiversity.

A Hub for Luxury Tourism

Shura Island is set to become a premier destination for luxury tourism, featuring 11 high-end hotels, including Four Seasons, Raffles, Rosewood, and Jumeirah. The island is accessible via a 1.2 km causeway, which links it to the mainland and facilitates easy access for international visitors.

Location and Accessibility

Located approximately 30 minutes from Red Sea International Airport, Shura Links is positioned to attract both regional and international tourists. The development aims to bolster Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector and contribute to the Kingdom’s economic diversification goals.

Future Prospects

With the opening of Shura Links, Saudi Arabia is poised to become a prominent player in the global golf tourism market. The course’s unique design and sustainable practices set a new benchmark for golf courses in the region, aligning with the Kingdom’s broader objectives under Vision 2030.
