The Ba***ds of Bollywood is currently Netflix’s hottest gossip machine. Aryan Khan’s directorial debut isn’t just trending, it’s practically living rent-free on Instagram reels, memes, and fan edits. But while viewers are laughing, clapping, and quoting lines, there’s one man who’s far from amused: Sameer Wankhede. The very officer who once arrested Aryan in 2021 is now dragging Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Aryan, and even Netflix to court.
Sameer Wankhede files lawsuit against Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and Aryan Khan
According to reports, Wankhede has filed a Rs. 2 crore defamation case at the Delhi High Court. He claims that the series is painting him in a bad light, tarnishing his reputation, and throwing shade at India’s anti-drug agencies. Just to up the stakes, he says if he wins the damages, the money will be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital.

Sameer Wankhede pointed out a particularly bold moment in the series: a character throws up a middle finger after uttering “Satyamev Jayate” – India’s national emblem tagline. He claims this isn’t just disrespectful, but also a violation under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. Basically, Aryan’s satire just got a legal reality check.
In the series, there’s a cheeky sequence where an officer raids a party. He lets a random non-celeb slide for smoking up, but decides to arrest a guy sipping alcohol only because he belongs to Bollywood. Fans instantly connected the dots to Aryan’s infamous 2021 drug bust. The satire was sharp, the internet went wild, but clearly, Wankhede wasn’t in the mood for punchlines.
Why did Aryan Khan get arrested in 2021?
For those who need a quick rewind, Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB during a cruise party raid, led by Wankhede. Later, shocking reports surfaced that Wankhede allegedly demanded Rs. 25 crore from the Khan family to “settle” the case. Out of this, Rs. 50 lakh was supposedly paid before the deal crumbled. Wankhede, of course, denied everything. Aryan was eventually cleared of all charges, but the episode left behind Bollywood’s biggest storm in a teacup.
So, while Aryan Khan’s first project is breaking Netflix charts and sparking endless conversations, the off-screen drama has officially gone legal.
