While Salman Khan is busy gearing up to explode on screen in Battle of Galwan, it seems like Bhaijaan has no chill when it comes to his filmography. He’s already cooking up what could be his next big screen dhamaka and this time, it’s reportedly a period thriller.

Currently prepping for his military avatar in Battle of Galwan, Salman is knee-deep in army mode with a mega shoot schedule set in the scenic Ladakh. While he’s working on perfecting his soldier role, he’s also planning his upcoming films that’ll take him straight into the gritty lanes of the 1970s.
Word on the street is that Salman and Mahesh have been having hush-hush meetings over the past few weeks in Mumbai. Director Mahesh Narayanan is leading this retro ride, the powerhouse Malayalam filmmaker known for his intense storytelling and raw, grounded narratives. The two are reportedly jamming on an action-packed period thriller set somewhere between the 70s and 90s.
We all know Salman has served action, drama, romance, and some iconic shirtless dance numbers, but now he’s ready to challenge himself.
As per Pinkvilla sources, “Salman is looking to try new genres that challenge him as an actor. He is excited about working on something different from his usual films. This project with Mahesh Narayanan could be one of them.”
If this isn’t a plot twist in Salman’s career graph, we don’t know what is.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 happening soon?
As if the Mahesh Narayanan collab wasn’t enough to set our pulses racing, Salman’s also cooking up something with Kabir Khan. Yes, the dynamic duo behind Bajrangi Bhaijaan is brainstorming again. Whether it’s a sequel or a new desi action saga, something explosive is clearly on the cards.
Though nothing’s officially locked yet, talks with Mahesh are moving faster than a Salman Khan action sequence. If all goes well, this retro thriller could go on floors in 2026. Until then, Salman’s got his hands full with Battle of Galwan, while Mahesh wraps up his Malayalam commitments.
