The Bollywood world is still reeling from the shocking attack on Saif Ali Khan, and now, there’s a major update that’s turning heads. Mumbai Police have cracked the case wide open, nabbing the accused, Shariful Islam, who had an escape plan.
The star who is currently in recorded his first statement with Mumbai Police at his Bandra residence on Thursday. After a five-day remand, the accused, Shariful Islam, will face the Bandra metropolitan magistrate court this Friday.
Accused intruder Reveals Having no intention of harming saif ali khan
In a plot twist worthy of a crime drama, Shariful claimed he had no intention of harming Saif, he confessed. Jobless since December 15 and drowning in financial troubles, he planned to rob the actor’s home and escape to Bangladesh.
After the attack, Shariful hopped on a Churchgate-bound train from Bandra, Mumbai and made a quick stop at Dadar. Realizing his face was all over the news, he decided to pull a move of his own by changing his appearance at a salon in Worli. The police even tracked down the salon owner and the autorickshaw driver who helped Saif get to Lilavati Hospital.
The Attack That Shook Bollywood
The terrifying incident unfolded at Saif’s Bandra home when an intruder clashed with his maid. Saif heroically stepped in, only to face a brutal stabbing that left him with multiple injuries. From his back to his neck, the injuries ranged from minor cuts to a deep 15 cm wound.
After being rushed to Lilavati Hospital in the early hours of January 16, Saif underwent emergency surgery. His medical report revealed injuries to five areas, but the good news is he’s stable and recovering in the ICU. The actor’s team confirmed on Thursday that he’s out of danger.

Shariful Islam, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, was living in India under the alias Vijay Das. With fake documents in hand, he blended into the city’s hustle until his audacious crime brought him under the police radar.
