As Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) prepares to welcome 2025, authorities have announced temporary road closures to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and public safety during the highly anticipated New Year’s Eve festivities. The emirate, known for its spectacular celebrations, will host an awe-inspiring fireworks and drone show along with family-friendly activities.
Roads to Be Closed on December 31
Starting at 2 PM on December 31, major roads in Ras Al Khaimah will be closed to facilitate the influx of thousands of visitors expected to attend the grand event. Key closures include:
- Emirates Roundabout
- Union Bridge
- Al Hamra Roundabout
- Cove Rotana Bridge
Urge motorists to use alternative routes and allow additional travel time to reach their destinations.
Additionally, the Etihad Road from Umm Al Quwain to Ras Al Khaimah will be inaccessible from 3 PM. Encourage travelers to plan their journeys carefully to avoid delays.
What to Expect at the Event
Ras Al Khaimah’s New Year’s Eve celebrations promise a breathtaking experience for residents and tourists alike. We expect the highlight to be a 15-minute fireworks and laser drone display titled “Our Story in the Sky,” and it aims to break multiple world records.
Visitors will also enjoy a vibrant festival atmosphere with music performances, food trucks, and family-friendly zones. Activities for children and entertainment options make it a perfect event for all age groups.
Best Viewing Locations
The main fireworks display will take place between Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra Village, offering stunning views along the coastline. We have scheduled an additional fireworks display at 8 PM in the city center for those unable to make it to the primary venue, with recommended viewing spots at Manar Mall and the Corniche.
Parking and Access Details
To manage the large crowds, parking near Al Marjan Island requires prior registration. Without a valid parking permit, vehicles will not be allowed after 2 PM on December 31. Visitors can also take advantage of over 20,000 free parking spaces at six designated zones. Camping enthusiasts are welcome in specific areas like Rams Parking and Dhayah Parking, which include barbecue facilities. Advance registration is necessary for all parking and camping options.
Safety First
The Ras Al Khaimah Police Department has prioritized safety and traffic management for this large-scale event. Ambulance and first responders will position themselves throughout the venue to provide emergency services.
Residents and visitors can call 999 for emergencies or 998 for medical assistance. For non-urgent queries, the police helpline will remain operational.
