Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, just dropped on Netflix, and it’s literally all anyone can talk about. Twitter’s buzzing, Instagram reels are flooded, and fans can’t get enough of Aryan’s whip-smart satire. But while the internet was celebrating his grand entry, the finale episode lit up controversy – thanks to one blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Ranbir Kapoor vaping scene that has now snowballed into a full-blown headache for the makers.
NHRC Calls for Action Against Ranbir Kapoor Regarding Bollywood’s Vaping Promotion
Episode 7 had RK playing RK – because who else can? He casually strolled into Karan Johar’s office, dropped a cheeky “F*ck all jacket, Karan,” got a sassy comeback from KJo, and then… bam! He asked for a vape. The internet giggled, but the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)? Not so much.
According to reports, activist Vinay Joshi filed a complaint claiming the scene was glamorising vaping without a single health warning in sight. Here’s the catch – India banned e-cigarettes way back in 2019 under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act. Now, NHRC has demanded action not just against Ranbir, but also Netflix and producer Gauri Khan. Yep, everyone’s name just got dragged into this legal mess.

What The Complaint Says
The complaint slams the show for pushing “irresponsible content” that could influence young viewers and make vaping look like a cool accessory. NHRC has even asked the Mumbai Police to dig into e-cigarette supply chains (this is getting that serious) and file a report within two weeks. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has also been pulled into the chaos. Basically, the backlash just levelled up.
From 21 celeb cameos (hello Salman, SRK, Aamir, Ranveer, Rajamouli!) to Netflix’s biggest satirical bet, Aryan Khan’s debut is still being hailed as bold and brilliant. But this controversy could put a dent in the victory lap. Whether it ends up as just smoke or full-blown fire is something we’ll have to wait and watch.
Bollywood debut + viral buzz + a controversy with teeth? Aryan Khan clearly isn’t stepping into filmmaking quietly.
