When we talk about icons of Indian cinema, two names instantly come to mind – Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. These two legends have ruled the big screen for decades, delivering blockbuster after blockbuster. So naturally, when they reunited in Vettaiyan, fans went into full-blown excitement mode!
But while most of us loved their on-screen reunion, one actor was seriously unimpressed. Malayalam actor Alencier Ley Lopez, who played a judge in the film, made a statement that has now sent shockwaves through the industry!
Alenciar Ley Lopez makes shocking claim on Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth’s acting
Alencier Ley Lopez questioned the acting skills of two of the biggest superstars Indian cinema has ever seen! During a recent media interaction, Alencier didn’t hold back. Speaking about his experience on the sets of Vettaiyan, he boldly declared, “I realized Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan don’t know how to act.”
The actor, who was part of an intense courtroom scene with the two legends, claims he had a front-row seat to their performances and walked away less than impressed.
Alencier revealed how he landed the role in Vettaiyan. He shared, “I was sent a flight ticket to Mumbai, and they provided accommodation at a five-star hotel. I just had to sit there as a judge for one shot, with Amitabh Bachchan sir and Rajinikanth sir seated on either side of me.”
Alencier also took a cheeky dig at Rajinikanth’s larger-than-life action sequences from the past. Reminiscing about his younger days, he said: “During my pre-degree days, I watched Rajini sir stop the whirring blades of a helicopter with his bare teeth. So, I was curious to see how he acts in front of the camera. During the Vettaiyan shoot, I saw him perform his stylised form of acting, his body language, and the way he walked out of the courtroom. Then, Amitabh Bachchan would roar like a lion, and I had to act shocked after all this.”
Alenciar claims he cannot act
After making one of the boldest statements of the year, Alencier admitted that he simply couldn’t match up to their brand of “stylized acting.” He said, “I realised I couldn’t compete with them because I don’t know stylised acting, nor do I have a deep baritone. All I can do is perform in films made by the likes of Dileesh Pothan, Sharan Venugopal, and Rajeev Ravi. Also, I realised that they cannot act.”

Needless to say, this comment did NOT sit well with Rajinikanth and Amitabh’s fans. Taking on two of the biggest icons in Indian cinema is no small feat, and Alencier definitely made sure his words wouldn’t go unnoticed. But was this a fearless opinion or just an unnecessary dig?
