Construction of the Mosque of President Joko Widodo commenced in 2021 and reached completion in October, offering a tranquil space for up to 2,500 worshippers. The inauguration ceremony, led by Suhail Al Mazroei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, featured a symbolic gesture as the minister planted a mango tree, signifying growth, unity, and prosperity.

Ust. Salman Alfarisi, the Indonesian Imam, presided over the Zuhr prayer during the ceremony. The event was graced by the presence of the minister, esteemed envoys, prominent businessmen, private sector leaders, and Indonesian expatriate community members.

Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis, emphasized the significance of the mosque, stating, “This mosque has become a symbol of the strong brotherhood between the two Presidents after the existence of Sheikh Zayed’s Grand Mosque in Solo.” The reference to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo underscores the reciprocal nature of the diplomatic gestures between the UAE and Indonesia.

Notably, last year, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Indonesia, further solidifying the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
