Pallavi Joshi Pens Open Letter To President Droupadi Murmu Seeking Support For The Bengal Files Release In West Bengal

When The Kashmir Files dropped, it sparked endless debates, headlines, and controversies. So, it was only natural that The Bengal Files would walk into the same storm and here we are! The film is cleared for release nationwide, but Bengal is playing hardball. With distributors and multiplex chains allegedly bowing to political heat, producer-actor Pallavi Joshi has stepped in with a bold move – an open letter to none other than President Droupadi Murmu herself.

Pallavi Joshi has a humble plea for west bengal CM Draupadi Murmu

Pallavi, who has also acted in the film, took to social media to share her heartfelt appeal to the President. Her request? Protect their constitutional rights and ensure the movie gets its rightful release in West Bengal. With multiplex chains reportedly refusing to screen the film, Joshi didn’t mince words, calling out the “political pressure and threats by the ruling party.”

Her caption read, “URGENT APPEAL Your Excellency, presidentofindia, As Producer of #TheBengalFiles, I am pained that multiplex chains in Bengal have refused the film’s release under political pressure and threats by the ruling party. I plead for your intervention to uphold my constitutional rights and ensure its release in Bengal.

Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film dives deep into the horrors of Direct Action Day in Calcutta on August 16, 1946. It marks the final chapter of Agnihotri’s “Files Trilogy” after The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. If the trailer is anything to go by, this isn’t just cinema, it’s a gut-punch of history, truth, and raw storytelling.

A stellar cast — Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi — brings this tale to life. Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi, and Agnihotri co-produce the film, while Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha Productions present it worldwide.

Despite the hurdles, The Bengal Files is marching into theatres on September 5, 2025. While Bengal’s status hangs in suspense, cinephiles everywhere else are bracing for another Agnihotri special – hard-hitting, controversial, and impossible to ignore.
