Abu Dhabi Rolls Out Paid Parking in Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza

Abu Dhabi is introducing paid parking starting Monday, July 29, 2024, in two important areas: the Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza in Khalifa City. This new parking system is part of the city’s plan to better manage traffic and keep the streets safer.

Key Details About the New Parking Zones

Sectors Affected

The new paid parking will be set up in three areas:

  • SW2: This zone covers the area between Al Marmouq Street and Al Qalayid Street, from Theyab Bin Eissa Street to Al Murahibeen Street. It has 523 parking spots, with 17 reserved for people with disabilities.
  • SE45: Located at Etihad Plaza, this area is bordered by Al Mireef Street and Al Ibtisamah Street. It offers 1,283 parking spaces, including 17 for people with disabilities.
  • SE48: This zone is near the Etihad Airways headquarters on Al Mireef Street. It has 694 parking spaces, with 3 set aside for people with disabilities.

Improvements Made

To support this change, the city has installed new signboards and painted the sidewalks. These updates aim to make the transition to paid parking smooth and straightforward.

Educational Efforts

Abu Dhabi Mobility is working to inform everyone about the new system. They’ve distributed brochures to local businesses and visitors explaining how the Mawaqif service works, its benefits, and how it will impact traffic and parking.

Why Paid Parking Matters

Introducing paid parking helps Abu Dhabi in several ways:

  • Better Traffic Flow: By managing parking better, the city aims to reduce traffic jams and improve how smoothly vehicles move around.
  • Increased Safety: Well-organized parking areas make driving safer and reduce the risk of accidents.
  • Supports City Development: Money from parking fees will go towards improving city infrastructure and supporting future projects.

Tips for Parking Smartly

To make sure everything goes well with the new system, here are some tips:

  • Park Properly: Park your vehicle in the designated spaces and avoid blocking traffic.
  • Follow the Rules: Avoid parking in restricted areas to prevent fines and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Abu Dhabi’s new paid parking system in Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza aims to make parking more organized and efficient. By following the new rules and parking responsibly, everyone can help keep the city running smoothly.

Remember, following parking regulations is important for everyone’s benefit—so park wisely and help keep Abu Dhabi moving!
