Oman To Get A New City For 100,000 People With 20,000 Homes

Gulf Countries are not only known for their oil reserves but also for the world-class luxury and services they have to offer. However, not everyone living in the gulf can afford the best of luxury; hence to accommodate the needs of the low-income group, UAE’s neighbouring country, Oman, has announced the development of a new city on the outskirts of Muscat. Oman’s His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik announced the construction of a new city- Sultan Haitham City. The city is being built to accommodate Omani citizens on low incomes, and here’s everything you must know.

Sultan Haitham City Will Be Home To 100,000 Residents

The inaugural ceremony of the “Sultan Haitham City” took place at Al Baraka Palace, and all high-rank officials were present at the launch. As per the Oman News Agency, the city will approximately cover an area of 15 million square metres and house 100,000 residents and have 20,000 residential units of different styles. Furthermore, it will also include schools, places of worship, hospitals, a university and shopping centres.

In terms of development and construction, it will start in the first of 2024 and finish in three years. The model of Sultan Haitham City focuses on sustainable lifestyles and will accommodate all segments of society and give its citizen access to all social and recreational facilities. Once ready, the first priority will be given to married couples struggling to pay rent in the big cities of Oman.

The Construction Will Begin In The First Half Of 2024

The city will focus on housing people who earn the minimum wage, orphans, widows, divorcees, unmarried women, families of prisoners, etc. It focuses on twelve global standards of quality of life and welfare and aims to offer affordable living costs with advanced integrated facilities and modern lifestyles.
