Diljit Dosanjh has been riding a controversy wave ever since Sardaar Ji 3 made headlines, not just for its announcement, but for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir and skipping a theatrical release in India. With emotions flaring post the Pahalgam attack, some fans feel Diljit crossed a line, while others are screaming “art has no borders!” Now, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has stepped into the chaos and let’s just say, he didn’t hold back.
Naseeruddin Shah Takes A Stand For Diljit Dosanjh
Naseeruddin Shah, never the one to play it safe, jumped into the ring to defend Diljit with a fiery Facebook post. The OG of Indian cinema declared, “I stand firmly with Diljit,” making it clear that the Sardaar Ji 3 casting wasn’t Diljit’s doing. According to Shah, the blame game is just lazy targeting because people only know Diljit, not the director.
His complete post read, “I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. He was not responsible for the casting of the film; the director was. But no one knows who he is, whereas Diljit is known the world over. And he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.”

He continued, “I have a couple of close relatives and friends in Pakistan. And no one can stop me from meeting them. What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there. And no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it. And my response to those who will say ‘Go to Pakistan’ is ‘GO TO KAILASA.’”
Naseeruddin’s Words Were Fire… Until They Disappeared
The post made waves, gained attention, and then even got deleted. But not before screenshots did their rounds on every social feed. Shah called out the hate brigade loud and clear.
Borders, Bans & Backlash: The Sardaar Ji 3 Storm
The Sardaar Ji 3 controversy started brewing the moment it was revealed that Hania Aamir, popular Pakistani actress and social media darling was cast opposite Diljit. With the Pahalgam terror attack fresh in memory, the debate over allowing Pakistani artistes in Indian films hit boiling point. Diljit also clarified that the film was shot when things were completely normal between the two nations.
FWICE Says NO, Industry Caught in the Crossfire
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) stuck to its no-Pakistani-artists stance, blocking releases and clamping down on cross-border collabs. Fawad Khan’s Abir Gulaal also took a hit earlier this year. So when Sardaar Ji 3 announced a global release, but skipped India, the backlash was inevitable.
What’s Next for Diljit?
Despite the noise, Diljit has stayed silent, letting the work speak for itself. But with names like Naseeruddin Shah and Imtiaz Ali standing by him, it’s clear he’s not alone in this storm. His film may not hit Indian cinemas, but the spotlight? Oh, it’s shining brighter than ever.
