While Saiyaara marks the big fat Bollywood debut of Ahaan Panday (yes, Ananya Panday’s cousin) alongside the fresh-faced beauty Aneet Padda, fans couldn’t help but scream Aashiqui 3 vibes from the very first glimpse. And now, the cat’s out of the bag—was this romantic drama always meant to be the third chapter in the iconic Aashiqui saga? Well, grab your popcorn and read on, because Mohit Suri just spilled the chai!
Saiyaara Was Supposed to Be Aashiqui 3?
Turns out, Saiyaara isn’t just a debut romance—it was once the chosen one to carry forward the Aashiqui legacy! Yup, Mohit Suri, the man behind heartbreak anthems and cinematic sobfests, just confirmed that this film was originally the script for Aashiqui 3. Mind = blown. But like most things in Bollywood, not all love stories stay the course.
A Script, A Split & A Swerve
Mohit revealed that he had pitched this love tale to Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt when things were all sunshine and roses between the two. But as creative karma would have it, friendships fizzled, and production plans scattered faster than a DDLJ climax. Mohit, not one to rush art, wasn’t vibing with the pressure to announce before scripting—and voila, Saiyaara was born with a new identity and a whole lotta feels.
Luv Ranjan: Cupid With A Camera?
You’d never guess, but it was filmmaker Luv Ranjan who lit the creative fire under Mohit Suri to pen this passion project. Inspired by The Romantics docu-series and disillusioned by formulaic action flicks, Mohit decided it was time to bring back heartfelt love stories that feel like love—not just show it.
Déjà Vu: How History Repeats With a Twist
Fun fact: Even Aashiqui 2 wasn’t born as a sequel. It floated through many big-name laps—including Emraan Hashmi’s—before Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor owned it and turned it into a cult classic. So Saiyaara walking a similar path just feels like destiny repeating with a Gen Z twist.
All Eyes On July 2025
Produced by YRF bigwig Akshaye Widhani, Saiyaara is all set to paint theatres red on July 18, 2025. And let’s be honest, between the star kid debut, the indie charm of Aneet, and the Mohit Suri magic—we’re expecting tears, tunes, and ten-on-ten romance.
So now the million-dollar question: is Kartik Aaryan still doing Aashiqui 3 or did Saiyaara just steal its thunder? We’ll let Bollywood do the talking… but until then, Saiyaara just became our new obsession.
