Bollywood veteran actor Gufi Paintal passes away at the age of 79. The actor is widely known for portraying the role of Shakuni Mama in the classic TV serial Mahabharat. It was the first-ever OG Mahabharat in the 80’s.
The late actor passed away on Monday, June 5. His nephew, Hiten Paintal stated that he was admitted to a hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. He has age-related health issues. Talking to PTI, Hiten said, “Unfortunately, he is no more. He passed away at the hospital at around 9 am. His heart gave up. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.”
A few days earlier Hiten told PTI, “He had blood pressure and heart issues. He was keeping unwell and all this was going on for a while. Things got severe now so we got him to the hospital for observation. He has been in the hospital for seven to eight days. He was critical initially, but right now he is stable.”
Gufi Paintal debuted in Bollywood in 1975 with the movie Rafoo Chakkar. He went on to appear in movies like Dillagi, Desh Pardesh, Suhaag and many more.
He graced both the small screen and the silver screen in the 80s. But, what made him a household name was his iconic character as Shakuni Mama in Mahabharat.
He was last seen in the Star Bharat’s show Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki from the year 2021-2022.
