Bollywood’s very own Miss National Award Winner, Kriti Sanon, has never been one to mince words. While the chatter around nepotism keeps fueling in Bollywood, Kriti’s latest take on the hot topic is both bold and refreshing. At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Kriti flipped the script and dropped some truth bombs about who’s really keeping the nepotism narrative alive. Spoiler alert: it’s not just Bollywood.
Kriti Sanon expresses her take on nepotism in Bollywood
Kriti, who entered Bollywood with Heropanti and now owns a production house, made it crystal clear that blaming the industry alone is unfair. She called out the real culprits. She’s looking at the media and the audience! “I feel the industry is not so much responsible for nepotism. It’s also the media and the audience,” she said, leaving no room for sugarcoating.
The Never-Ending Cycle
Kriti didn’t stop there. She explained how the entire system is intertwined. She added, “The audiences want to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested, let’s make a movie with them.” Basically, if we’re still clicking on those “Spotted: Star Kid at Bandra Cafe” posts, we’re all a part of this.
But Kriti also believes that talent is the ultimate game-changer. “So I think it’s a circle. But I feel if you are talented, you will get there. If you’re not talented, and if the connection is not there with the audiences, you will not get there,” she added. And honestly? That’s the mic-drop moment we needed.
The Kriti Sanon Success Story
For someone who didn’t come from a filmi family, Kriti’s journey has been anything but ordinary. From her charming debut opposite Tiger Shroff to her heartwarming performance in Mimi that earned her a National Award, Kriti is proof that hard work and talent can rise above nepotism.
And let’s not forget her versatility! Whether it’s rom-coms like Luka Chuppi, period dramas like Adipurush, or thrillers like her recent Do Patti, Kriti is slaying across genres.
On the professional front, Kriti’s last outing was Netflix’s Do Patti, a gripping mystery thriller where she shared screen space with Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh. Produced by her own banner, Blue Butterfly Films, the film released on October 25, 2024, and had everyone talking.
