Kangana Ranaut who needs no introduction when it comes to bold opinions and stirring the pot. She might be controversy’s favorite child, but she knows how to give credit where it’s due! This time, the Queen star is all praises for Bollywood’s OG powerhouse, Jaya Bachchan.
Kangana ranaut gives a Surprising Shoutout to
Jaya Bachchan
During a recent interview, Kangana called Jaya Bachchan one of the most “dignified” women in the industry. While we’re all still recovering from that unexpected twist, Kangana dropped some major respect for Jaya’s work, especially when it came to promoting women empowerment in the ’70s.
According to reports from News18, Kangana said, “Jaya Bachchan ji is a very reputed actor in our film industry. Honestly, she’s known for her short temper. But at the same time, I’d like to give her the acknowledgement and due credit for those times. You can imagine that in the 1970s when women had to roast their skin in the (harsh) lighting. However, she did films like Guddi. She sent a message of women’s empowerment through that.”
She’s someone who’s had quite the back-and-forth with Jaya in the past. In 2020, Kangana clapped back at Jaya Bachchan’s comments during the Sushant Singh Rajput controversy. Seems like water under the bridge now.
Kangana didn’t stop at just praising Jaya’s acting chops. She gave her a shoutout for the way she carries herself in the Rajya Sabha, adding, “And even after that… She’s one of the most dignified women in the film industry. The way she carries herself in Rajya Sabha. I feel excellent that we have this kind of representation from the film industry.” And about that past shade thrown at Jaya? Kangana brushed it off, saying, “That’s fine. If we say something to each other. I believe she’s older than us. We should take it in stride if she says something to us.”
Jaya Bachchan’s Iconic Journey
Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has always been a force to be reckoned with. She made her debut in Satyajit Ray’s Mahanagar back in 1963, and since then, she’s graced the big screen with one iconic role after another. And let’s not forget her stellar comeback in the 2000s with films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and the recent hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
From dominating the silver screen to being a Padma Shri awardee and a fierce voice in the Rajya Sabha, Jaya has done it all. No wonder Kangana’s giving her props!
Kangana’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’
While Kangana’s busy dishing out compliments, she’s also prepping for her next big release – Emergency. This biographical political drama, written and directed by Kangana herself, is set to feature a star-studded cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, and Milind Soman.
