Kangana Ranaut defines versatility and the undisputed boss of bold opinions is back in the headlines, this time for weighing in on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent rendezvous with Bollywood’s first family, the Kapoors. From Ranbir to Kareena, the entire Kapoor khandaan rolled out the red carpet to extend an invite to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival celebrating the legendary actor’s centenary.
Kangana Ranaut shares her opinion on the kapoor family meeting PM Narendra Modi
In a chat at Agenda Aaj Tak, Kangana didn’t mince her words. When asked about PM Modi’s meeting with the Kapoors and her own desire for a similar sit-down, Kangana got candid. She said, “I believe our film industry definitely requires substantial guidance. It holds immense soft power that is significantly underutilized. After being part of the industry for 20 years, I can say that it feels orphaned and lacks direction. This absence of guidance leaves them vulnerable to various agendas, whether it be the Jihadi agenda or the Palestinian issue.”
Orphaned, you ask? Kangana made her case crystal clear. According to her, the industry often falls prey to agendas and influences, ranging from global issues to darker underbellies like drugs and hawala money. “People in the film industry can be easily swayed with a little money. They become targets for influences like drugs and hawala and can end up at parties thrown by gangsters. This makes them quite vulnerable,” she added, with her signature sharpness.
Kangana Calls Modi’s Move a “Masterstroke”
Here’s where Kangana switched gears and gave a nod to PM Modi for recognizing the industry’s importance. She believes this interaction could be a game-changer. “Therefore, the step to engage with them is crucial, as it can encourage the industry to recognize that PM Modi values their contributions. They often act out thinking no one is watching and end up attending parties in Dubai, feeling untouchable. This interaction is a positive move,” she remarked.
Kangana also advocated for Bollywood to be treated on par with other mainstream industries. “We are a significant sector, yet we don’t receive the respect that other industries do. We produce numerous films and contribute significantly to the economy. Regarding my own request for a meeting with the Prime Minister, I hope to receive one soon,” she said, sounding every bit the industry leader she’s positioning herself to be.
What’s next for Kangana Ranaut?
Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in the upcoming film Emergency. Stepping into the shoes of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Kangana is both directing and starring in the political drama. With a stellar cast featuring Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, and Mahima Chaudhary, the film is set to drop in 2025.
