One of the most sought after directors in Bollywood, Kabir Khan just dropped some major bombshells about the making of the iconic film ‘New York’! In a recent chat, the mastermind behind cinematic gems like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ spilled the tea on how Salman Khan played a pivotal role in convincing Katrina Kaif to hop on board for the film ‘New York”.
Katrina Kaif did not want to work with director Kabir Khan?
Kabir Khan had his sights set on Katrina Kaif for the role in ‘New York.’ But when Kat seemed a tad hesitant about the film’s premise, it was none other than Bhaijaan himself who swooped in to save the day!
According to Kabir Khan, “Those days, she was seeing Salman. Salman asked her ‘how was the meeting?’ She said, ‘There is a new filmmaker who has made one film and he offered me a film. It’s interesting but I don’t know.’ Salman asked, ‘Who is the filmmaker?’ so she said, ‘There’s this guy called Kabir Khan.’ So apparently, Salman said ‘Aankh band karke picture sign kar lo, I have met the boy’ (sign the film with your eyes closed, I have met the boy). It’s so sweet that he remembered that one meeting.”
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Kabir spilled the beans on his hilarious mix-ups with Katrina on set. From accidentally calling her Kareena to nearly making her break out into a giggle fit with his “sir” references, it was a ride of laughs and friendships.
For those living under a rock, ‘New York’ (2009) wasn’t just any run-of-the-mill movie, it was a gripping thriller that took audiences on a wild ride through the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in the US. Starring Katrina Kaif, John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Irrfan Khan, this film captured hearts and box office records, cementing its status as a must-watch.
