The veteran actress has always been brutally honest, and while that’s one of her many strong suits, it also lands her in controversies more often than not. This time, her latest target? Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha! Jaya Bachchan had some strong thoughts about the film’s title.

During a recent appearance at the India TV Conclave, Jaya Bachchan did not hold back when discussing the 2017 Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer. Expressing her sheer disbelief over the film’s title, she remarked, “Just look at the name! I would never watch a film with such a title. Yeh koi naam hai?”
he turned to the audience and asked if they would watch a film called Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. When only a handful of people raised their hands, she declared, “Among so many people, hardly four people want to watch the film; it’s very sad. Yeh toh flop hai (It is a flop).”
What’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha All About
If you somehow missed it, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a social dramedy featuring Akshay Kumar as Keshav, a man who marries Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) only to face a rather unusual marital crisis, his house doesn’t have a toilet! Jaya, a modern woman, refuses to accept this, pushing Keshav to battle age-old taboos, superstitions, and literal brick walls to build one. The film had a strong message about sanitation and was even inspired by true events!
While it was appreciated for tackling a serious issue, looks like Jaya Bachchan wasn’t exactly a fan at least not of the title!
While Toilet: Ek Prem Katha did well at the box office and even got critical praise for its message, it’s clear that not everyone was impressed – especially Jaya Bachchan! Her comments have already set social media buzzing, with fans divided over whether she was just being honest or unnecessarily harsh.
