Streamlining the Renewal Process for a Seamless Experience in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates, often hailed as a ‘melting pot of cultures,’ is home to a diverse expatriate community, with the Indian expatriates standing out as the largest, constituting 30% of the population, as per the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. With approximately 3.5 million resident Indian Nationals in the UAE, the need for passport renewal is a common query among the expatriates.

Passport Renewal: Documents Required:

To initiate the renewal process, applicants must gather the following documents:

1. Filled Online Application Form:

The application form can be accessed at Embassy Passport Portal.

2. Recent Photos:

Two recent, clear photos (51mm x 51mm), not older than three months, with a white background and dark clothing. Eyes must be open, and the forehead, ears, and chin should be completely visible, with no shadows on the face and neck.

3. Original Passport:

The current original passport is for submission, along with any additional booklets.

4. Photocopies:

Clear photocopies of the passport’s first, last, and address page, along with any endorsement pages, valid UAE visa page, and additional booklets (if any).

5. Signature:

All signatures in the application form should be in black ink and signed in the presence of BLS International Services Customer Service Officer.

In-Person Submission:

All applicants, including minors and newborn babies, should submit the application in person for identification.

Fees:

The fees for renewal vary based on the type of booklet and service required:

  • For Adults (36 pages booklet): Dh285
  • For Adults (60 pages jumbo booklet): Dh380
  • For Tatkal Service (36 pages booklet): Dh855
  • For Tatkal Service (60 pages jumbo booklet): Dh950
  • Service Charge: Dh9
  • Indian Community Welfare Fund: Dh8

Tatkal Services (Urgent):

In case of emergencies, applicants can opt for the ‘Tatkal scheme’ by visiting the Consulate and paying an additional fee. This ensures the issuance of their passport on the same day.
