Baburao Apte, Shyam, and Raju – aka the holy trinity of our meme-loving, nostalgia-soaked childhoods – are the very soul of Hera Pheri. With Hera Pheri 3 being the most anticipated comedy comeback ever, fans were counting the days to see Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal reunite. But the buzz just took a wild turn. Paresh Rawal is reportedly OUTand the looks like Suniel Shetty didn’t even know!
Hera Pheri 3 Without Baburao?
Suniel Shetty didn’t hold back when asked about Paresh Rawal’s alleged exit. In full Shyam mode, he called it straight: “It cannot happen. 100 per cent cannot happen without Paresh Rawal. It can have 1 per cent chance without me and Akshay, but 100% can’t happen without Paresh ji. No, it doesn’t. Raju and Shyam, if they’re not hammered by Babu here, it doesn’t work.”
Suniel was in the middle of promoting his next big-screen saga, Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath, when he got hit with the Hera Pheri plot twist and not from a producer or a press release, but from his own kids. Athiya and Ahan Shetty sent him the news faster than a WhatsApp forward. He shared, They both sent it to me within 15 minutes, asking ‘papa what is this?’ And I was here doing my interviews, and I felt like ‘holy s***’.”
The OG Comedy Franchise That Raised a Generation
Let’s rewind: Hera Pheri dropped in 2000 and instantly became India’s comedy Bible. In 2006, Phir Hera Pheri brought double the chaos and triple the memes. Now, with the third film allegedly being helmed by Priyadarshan again, fans had dreams of seeing the trio wreak havoc on-screen once more. But this update has left everyone with more questions than laughs.
The internet is already mourning the potential exit of Paresh Rawal, whose iconic portrayal of Baburao is basically etched into the pop culture hall of fame. From “Utha le re baba” to “Main thoda bevda hoon”, he’s a walking, talking meme factory. Let’s be honest: Raju and Shyam just don’t hit the same without Babu hammering them with his iconic one-liners.
While Hera Pheri 3 might be caught in a spiral of “kaun banega Babu Bhaiya,” fans can still look forward to a dose of chaos with Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh teaming up for Welcome To The Jungle, which drops later this year. Plus, director Priyadarshan has another quirky flick Bhoot Bangla in the pipeline starring Paresh and Akshay.
So is this a real exit or just a bump in Baburao’s road? Will the OG trio rise again or is this the end of the most epic comedy saga ever? Stay tuned, because this drama is only getting started.
