As fuel prices soar, commuters traveling between Sharjah and Dubai are facing higher bus fares. This increase comes in response to a 17 fils rise in diesel prices, affecting several intercity routes.
Bus Fare Adjustments
Starting from March 1, bus fares on specific routes have seen notable increases. For example, the fare for the Rolla to Mall of the Emirates route (bus route 309) has jumped from Dh17 to Dh20. Similarly, intercity bus route 616 now charges between Dh8 to Dh10 for shorter distances and Dh30 for longer distances, up from Dh27 previously.
Varied Fare Adjustments
Different routes have experienced varying fare adjustments. Routes 112, 114, 115, and 116 have seen fare increases ranging from Dh1 to Dh3. However, routes 66 and 333 have maintained their fares at Dh6 and Dh10, respectively.

Changes in Ajman Taxi Fares
In Ajman, taxi fares have also been adjusted. Effective March 1, there’s been a 4-fil increase per kilometer, with the new fare standing at Dh1.83 per kilometer, up from Dh1.79 previously.
Fuel Price Breakdown
The surge in fuel prices for March 2024 has affected various fuel types. Super 98 petrol is now priced at Dh3.03 per liter, Special 95 petrol at Dh2.92 per liter, and E-Plus 91 petrol at Dh2.85 per liter. Diesel prices have also risen to Dh3.16 per liter.
Comparative Analysis
While the current diesel price is 3 fils lower compared to December last year, it marks 16 fils increase from the beginning of the year when it was priced at Dh3 per liter on January 1.
