Free Parking in Dubai on New Year’s Day 2025

Dubai’s RTA announces free public parking and extended transport services to celebrate New Year’s Day

As the New Year approaches, Dubai is set to welcome 2025 with a thoughtful gesture for its residents and visitors. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced free public parking across the city on January 1, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance convenience for those participating in the New Year celebrations.

Free Parking to Mark New Year’s Day

All public parking zones in Dubai will be free on New Year’s Day, excluding multi-story parking facilities. This move is expected to make city-wide travel more seamless, especially for those attending events and gatherings to ring in the new year. Regular parking fees will resume on January 2, 2025.

Extended Public Transport Timings

To accommodate the increased demand during the New Year festivities, the RTA has also extended the operating hours for various public transport services.

Dubai Metro

The Dubai Metro will operate continuously to ensure smooth mobility:

  • December 31, 2024: 5:00 AM to midnight
  • January 1, 2025: Midnight to 11:59 PM

Dubai Tram

The Dubai Tram will offer extended services:

  • December 31, 2024: 6:00 AM to midnight
  • January 1, 2025: Midnight to 1:00 AM (January 2, 2025)

Public Buses and Marine Transport

Public buses will run on modified schedules during the New Year period. Passengers are advised to use the RTA’s official app for updated routes and timings. Similarly, marine transport services, including water taxis and abras, will operate on special schedules to support the celebrations.

Service Center Closures

The RTA has also announced that all customer service centers and vehicle testing facilities will remain closed on January 1, 2025. These services will resume normal operations on January 2, 2025.

Traffic and Road Closures

To manage the heavy influx of visitors to iconic locations such as Downtown Dubai, the RTA will implement temporary road closures starting from 4:00 PM on December 31. Key roads, including Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, will be pedestrian-only zones for the evening. Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time and utilize public transport.

Safety and Security

Dubai authorities are prioritizing public safety during the celebrations. Visitors attending events are urged to cooperate with security personnel and follow guidelines to ensure an enjoyable and secure experience for all.

Celebrate New Year’s Day with Ease

Dubai’s decision to offer free public parking and extend transport services reflects the city’s commitment to making celebrations hassle-free and memorable.
