Dubai Launches First Floating Breathwork at Sea on Palm Jumeirah

A one-of-a-kind wellness ritual brings mindful breathing to the Arabian Gulf at Palm Jumeirah.

Dubai continues to push boundaries with its lifestyle and wellness offerings. The city has now introduced the world’s first floating breathwork experience, held off the shores of Palm Jumeirah. The practice combines movement, meditation, and the natural rhythm of the sea, creating a mindful escape for residents looking to pause, reset, and recharge.

The Experience at Sea

The session begins on the beach with grounding exercises designed to release tension and ease the body into a calmer state. Once participants are ready, they move into the gentle waters of Palm Jumeirah, where guided breathwork takes place. Floating on the sea, the practice synchronises with the ebb and flow of the waves, allowing every breath to connect with the natural elements.

The evening concludes with a quiet return to shore, followed by a herbal tea ceremony. Under the night sky, guests are invited to reflect, restore balance, and carry a sense of stillness into the week ahead.

The Minds Behind the Concept

This unique programme is a collaboration between The Retreat Palm Dubai, MGallery by Sofitel—the region’s first holistic wellbeing resort—and Immersiv Collective, a team specialising in transformative group experiences. The sessions are led by Ashley Edelman, an experienced breathwork facilitator who combines mindful breathing with body-based techniques that support nervous system regulation and emotional release.

The focus is not on achieving perfection but on creating a safe space where participants can slow down, let go, and reconnect with themselves in a natural setting.

It Stands Out in Dubai

Wellness in Dubai often carries a touch of grandeur—luxury spas, skyline yoga sessions, and world-class fitness hubs. Floating Immersiv Breathwork offers something refreshingly simple yet deeply impactful. Practicing at sea deepens connection with nature—grounding and freeing.

Unlike a one-off event, the sessions are scheduled every Sunday evening, allowing residents to weave them into their weekly routine. It provides an alternative way to begin the week—lighter, calmer, and more present.

Practical Details for Participants

  • When: Every Sunday evening
  • Where: The Retreat Palm Dubai, Palm Jumeirah
  • Format: Somatic activation, floating breathwork at sea, followed by a tea ceremony
  • Who Leads It: Ashley Edelman, Immersiv Collective

Participation is in small groups to ensure a more personal and restorative experience. Early booking is advised as spaces are limited.

Dubai showcases record-breaking landmarks, but this new wellness experience emphasizes presence over scale. Floating Immersiv Breathwork offers a pause from the city’s fast pace, reminding participants that sometimes the most powerful reset comes not from doing more, but from simply floating and breathing.
