Taha Shah Badussha’s Big Break with Dharma Productions
In a recent chat with Social Kandura, Taha Shah took a trip down memory lane to his early career days. Picture this: a young actor hustling hard, finally landing an audition for none other than Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The call came from Shanoo Sharma, who invited him to audition with a girl Karan Johar wanted to test. Taha shared his excitement: “After months of grinding in Mumbai, Shanoo Sharma called me. She said, ‘Karan Johar wants to test this girl, but you can come and test with her, and he might see you’. I was like, ‘I’ll take that shot, why not?’”
The Heartbreak Moment: Karan Johar Didn’t Want to Meet Him
Just when Taha thought his dreams were about to come true, fate threw him a curveball. He wrapped up all his previous commitments, ready to impress KJo. But as he reached the building for the audition, he got a gut-wrenching call from Shanoo: “I finished my prior shoot, was right under their building, when Shanoo called. She said, ‘I’m so sorry Taha, but Karan doesn’t want to see you.’ My heart sank. I told her I was far away and tried to keep cool. But heading back in that auto, I was shattered. They didn’t want to see me at all.”
In an earlier interview with The Week, Taha recalled another dramatic moment in his quest to meet KJo. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right? Taha literally chased after Karan Johar’s car, even tapping on it to get his attention. He shared, “I ran after Karan Johar sir’s car, hit it, and said, ‘I just got a film. I want to show it to you, please give me your number’. Karan was surprisingly kind, gave me his number, and asked if I was okay. He even offered me water. That’s how we first met. Later, I went to his office and got the audition for Gippi.”
