The UAE is setting the stage for a greener future with updated electric vehicle (EV) charging network fees. Starting January 2025, the government-owned UAEV network will implement new tariffs, marking a significant move toward supporting sustainable transportation and achieving the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals. Here’s what EV drivers need to know about the changes.
New Charging Tariffs for EV Users
From January, EV owners will encounter standardized fees for charging their vehicles:
- DC Chargers: AED 1.20 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), plus VAT
- AC Chargers: AED 0.70 per kWh, plus VAT
This transparent pricing model ensures clarity for EV drivers and helps establish a sustainable system for managing the growing demand for charging services. Previously, charging services were offered free of cost to encourage EV adoption and familiarize users with the infrastructure.
UAEV’s New Mobile App Enhances Convenience

To make charging simpler and more convenient, UAEV is introducing a mobile application packed with useful features. Drivers can use the app to:
- Find the nearest charging station
- Check real-time availability of chargers
- Make payments effortlessly
This app will be an essential tool for EV users, especially as charging points become busier with increasing adoption.
24/7 Customer Support for a Hassle-Free Experience
Recognizing the need for reliable support, UAEV is also launching a 24/7 customer service center. This dedicated line will ensure that EV drivers have round-the-clock assistance, whether they face technical issues or need guidance on using the charging network.
Expanding the Charging Network
UAEV is committed to growing its infrastructure to meet the rising demand for EV charging. By 2030, the network will feature 1,000 charging stations placed strategically across urban centers, highways, and transit hubs. This expansion ensures seamless travel for EV users across the Emirates, making electric mobility more practical and accessible.
Driving a Sustainable Future
The introduction of standardized tariffs, a user-friendly mobile app, and an extensive support system highlight the UAE’s focus on advancing sustainable transportation. These steps not only encourage more residents to switch to electric vehicles but also contribute to the nation’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
As the new tariffs come into effect, EV drivers and those considering the transition to electric vehicles can look forward to improved infrastructure, greater convenience, and a more eco-friendly future.
