And with Eid Al Adha around the corner, if you are planning a road trip, you must consider a road trip from Dubai to Oman. 1. Oman Visa

If you are a UAE passport holder, you don’t need a visa to visit Oman; however, if you are a UAE resident, you need a visa and can get a visa on arrival. For that, you should have a passport with a minimum of six months of validity with empty pages for exit/entry stamps. The visa fee is AED50, and you can pay in the local currency or by credit card. However, do cross-check the rates once before your visit. Alternatively, you can also apply for the visa online via https://evisa.rop.gov.om and save some time at the border.

2. No Photographs At The Borders

There are three borders that you can take to reach Oman- Hatta – Al Wajajah border, Meyzad – Hafeet border and the Khatm Al Shiklah border. You can pick up the order at your convenience; however, please note that photography and videography at the border point are not allowed, so keep your phone in the car.

3. You Need A Car Insurance

Having car insurance is necessary for your road trip to Oman. If your car insurance covers the trip, you can arrange for an “orange card” from your insurer. However, if it doesn’t cover, you can buy temporary insurance at the border crossing. Also, if you are renting a car and don’t own the car, you should present a letter from the car owner at the border.

4. Exit Fees

There are no fees to exit Oman; however, one has to pay an exit fee of AED35 at the UAE border. So make sure you carry enough cash, and credit cards are accepted too.

5. Make Sure You Check Everything

Lastly, make sure you have enough fuel, all the brakes, tyres and everything else are in place so that there’s no problem. Stock up on some snacks, carry all the necessary documents and make the most of your trip.
