Dubai is taking strides to improve conditions for its hardworking delivery riders with a new initiative that promises to make a significant impact on their daily lives. Partnering with Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is introducing innovative air-to-water dispensers across rest areas throughout the city.
Sustainable Water Solutions for Delivery Riders
These dispensers use advanced technology to convert atmospheric humidity into up to 100 liters of clean drinking water daily. This technology is tailored to Dubai’s climate, operating effectively in temperatures averaging 30ºC with 65% humidity. By using natural environmental conditions, these dispensers offer a reliable water source while reducing environmental impact compared to traditional methods.
Supporting Rider Well-being and Safety
RTA’s initiative includes the construction of 40 air-conditioned rest areas specifically designed to cater to delivery riders. These areas offer crucial respite from the city’s bustling streets, ensuring that riders have a safe and comfortable environment to recharge during their shifts. Already, several rest areas have been completed, with additional constructions planned in phases to cover key areas across Dubai.
