Are you travelling to Dubai soon? If yes, as a visitor, there’s something that you should keep in mind. As per the local travel agents and call centre workers, visitors to Dubai will no longer get a 10-day grace period once their tourist visa expires. Reports in The National and Khaleej Times state that those who overstay their visa will have to pay a fine of AED50 per day. Read on for all the deets.

You Need To Apply For The Renewal Of The Visa Before It Expires
As per The National, an ICP call centre agent on May 31st confirmed the end of the grace period for visit visas issued in the UAE. Other emirates in the country have already removed the grace period, and Dubai is the last emirate to enforce it. Hence, the 10-day grace period is not applicable any more, and if the visit visa holder stays after the expiry date, they will have to pay the overstay fines.
A customer service agent at Amer service centre confirmed this news with the leading and said that visitor visa holders should apply for an extension to their visa before the expiry date or leave the country. They can apply for 30 days extension for AED800. Besides this, visitors applying for a visa post the expiry should be aware that the day spent filing information or documents is still considered an overstay day, and they will have to pay a fine for these days as well.

Whether you hold a 30, 60 or 90-day visa, this rule is applicable to everyone. And visitors overstaying their visit without renewing their visas are also subject to arrest for staying illegally in the country. The authorities carry out regular inspection campaigns to catch such offenders.
