Dubai is set to open 39 new schools, universities, and early education centres for the 2024-25 academic year. This growth highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to providing diverse, high-quality education options for its residents.
Expanding Dubai’s Private Schools
Dubai’s education sector is growing with the addition of several new private schools. Among these are Dubai British School Jumeirah, GEMS Founders School Dubai South, and Springfield International School. These schools will offer the UK curriculum, catering to the city’s diverse population.
This year, over 16,000 new seats will be added to Dubai’s private school system. This expansion is designed to meet the increasing demand for quality education and provide more choices for families. Additionally, Lycée Francais Jean Mermoz South in Al Barsha South will introduce the French curriculum, offering even more variety.
Boosting Early Childhood Education
Early childhood education is a critical focus in Dubai, and this year will see the opening of 29 new early childhood centres (ECCs). Most of these ECCs will offer the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. One of the highlights is the opening of Dubai’s first ECC offering a Chinese curriculum, reflecting the city’s international diversity.
These centres will provide essential early learning opportunities, helping children build strong educational foundations from a young age.
New Universities on the Horizon
Dubai’s higher education landscape is also set to grow with four new universities opening in 2024-25. SKEMA Business School from France, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics from Russia, and Symbiosis International University from India will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Additionally, the Neohorizon School of Business, a collaboration between the UAE and China, will introduce a master’s degree in business.
These new universities will provide more options for students seeking higher education in Dubai, enhancing the city’s reputation as a global education hub.
Commitment to Quality Education
According to Aisha Miran, Director General of the KHDA, Dubai’s growth in the education sector isn’t just about increasing numbers. It’s about ensuring that every child and student has access to the best possible education. “By welcoming these new schools, early childhood centres, and higher education institutions, we’re not just adding numbers, but creating more opportunities for our children and youth,” she said.
The city already has a strong foundation with 220 private schools, 274 early childhood centres, and 38 higher education institutions. The 2024-25 academic year will build on this and offer even more opportunities for learning and growth.
Shaping the Future of Education in Dubai
With 39 new schools, universities, and early education centres set to open, Dubai is on track to become an even stronger educational hub. Whether you’re a parent looking for the best start for your child or a student seeking higher education opportunities, Dubai’s expanding educational landscape has something for everyone. The city’s commitment to quality and diversity ensures that students will continue to thrive in a dynamic learning environment.
