Dubai Salik Toll Prices updated: What You Need to Know

Fines now start at Dhs100

Dubai motorists will see an increase in Salik toll gate prices starting January 31, 2025. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced new variable toll rates to help manage traffic congestion across key areas in the city.

Revised Toll Rates

Drivers passing through Salik gates will be charged based on the time of day:

  • Peak Hours (6:00 AM – 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM) – AED 6 per crossing.
  • Off-Peak Hours (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM & 8:00 PM – 1:00 AM) – AED 4 per crossing.
  • Late Night (1:00 AM – 6:00 AM) – Free of charge.
  • Sundays – Flat rate of AED 4, except on public holidays and special occasions.

This dynamic pricing system aims to encourage off-peak travel and reduce rush-hour congestion.

Fines for Missing Salik Tag

Drivers must ensure they have an active Salik tag before passing through the toll gates. If a vehicle crosses without a registered tag, fines will apply:

  • First offense – AED 100
  • Second offense – AED 200
  • Subsequent offenses – AED 400 per violation

Salik Gate Locations

Salik gates are positioned strategically to regulate traffic across major roads in Dubai. The updated toll system applies to the following locations:

  • Al Barsha
  • Al Garhoud
  • Al Maktoum
  • Al Mamzar South
  • Al Mamzar North
  • Al Safa
  • Al Safa (South)
  • Airport Tunnel
  • Jebel Ali
  • Business Bay

Additional Parking Fees Introduced

Alongside Salik price adjustments, Dubai’s RTA will also introduce new parking tariffs in 2025. Premium parking spaces will cost AED 6 per hour during peak hours, while other public-paid parking areas will charge AED 4 per hour. Parking will remain free from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM and on Sundays.

Additionally, a congestion pricing policy for event areas will take effect. Public paid parking near major event venues will be charged at AED 25 per hour, starting with the Dubai World Trade Centre in February 2025.

Why These Changes Matter

Dubai’s rapid urban development has led to increased traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. The updated Salik toll structure and parking fee adjustments aim to improve road efficiency, encourage alternative travel options, and create a smoother driving experience.
